Jessey It is no wonder why many people are having less children much latter in life -too costly. Birth rates are dropping across many countries as well.
Hi Nikki, I heard on NPR yesterday that childcare for infants (think up to 2yrs) costs $22k/a year. Not sure if that is only in CA or nationwide. The interviewer went on to say when a parent is only making $34k, that doesn't allow much for life's realities: rent and food. She said older children's child care can run $12k - but still. It's an unsustainable environment for young families, seems to me. Very sad. Good post, btw.
It’s getting harder for working parents—no joke. The reduction in the child tax credit was tough on so many. A pediatrician / writer friend said that she saw child poverty increase in just a few months.
The reality is that two workers in a two-person + household is the norm. Congress doesn’t seem to get that.

There's more to it that that. But I do think, if you think about how you can't afford having a baby, you'll never have one!
I fear children will run into debts before they finish high school. At this rate, most households are barely surviving let alone save.
I’m a little more optimistic.

They had the reprieve that was 'un-reprieved' several months ago. It's really a sad situation for young parents especially.
