The world has moved on imho re manufacturing in US. After our trade agreements over past 20? years, US let things be jobbed out, which seemed to be working fine (or why did we establish them)? US workers have higher pay rates, at times (excluding meat packers) better working conditions. We had OSHA to keep things kosher. Child labor laws. Other countries may or do not have what US once had. US received lower prices bc of this. Have no idea if US will become Dickensian England. Also, manufacturing has most likely matured and requires more education than 20+ years ago, not just screwing in a part anymore. Perhaps computer-tech skills needed. And US education standards may now be lower. Not everyone knows how to use computers. Or learning curve could be too great at a more advanced age for those jobbed out when mfg moved overseas. I think the president’s dream of a mfg nation like the 1950’s is just that. No more giant steel mills, no GM and Ford huge assembly lines. The world has moved on—and US could fit in if no feathers were ruffled and all went along as before. US would need to build new factories/ In US that takes time. China can put up gigantic factories quickly. US may well have shot itself in the foot— if not the head. The world now moves too quickly. Blink and you’re toast. US blinked. Also it seems a near impossibility that Xi will waffle. That’s US’s new stance. Not the not so sleeping giant—again, imho.
Thank you! I'm learning so much!!!!!
You’ve made my day. Thank you!
So glad because your efforts are really helping me understand and learn. Thank you again!
We should work together with our allies, not attack them with tariffs :/
Good overview, Nikki. I have my less researched opinions which I won't bother to state.
Why not? I’d love to hear your take.

I love this. You and I are in agreement on a lot of things. Shot in the head is right.
